For the BumTucK story from the start reading from the bottom up.
And to the future......
Glenrohan was interveiwed by Sauce magazine for the second time and now they're getting together new material for recording their first full length studio CD scheduled for recording in September 2008. With more gigs booked to play along the way including "Punk for the Devil" (another Tassie Devil Benefit gig) and "Grungefest" plus their first Launceston and Oz Mainland shows coming up soon. Stay posted.
And it goes on......
They jammed for a few more months and started playing gigs at Hobarts Trout bar to a cool response from punks, metalheads and other punters alike. Sauce Magazine got Glenrohan to do an interview to find out what all the fuss was about. They played at any event they were asked to play with whoever was game enough to play with'em, including "Pure Punk 1-4", "Helloween Havoc 06-07", "Metal V's Punk" and "A Nightmare on Brisbane Street" Even supporting Pisschrist at two gigs and taking the time to play some Benefit gigs, most notably for the Tassie Devil crisis and the Sea Shepherd anti-whaling vessel. During this time their set was recorded live at "Helloween Havoc 06" and released mistakes and all as a 12 track live CD entitled "Here comes BumTucK without an F" and it definately proved they were without an F !
How it began again......
In late 2005 Glenrohan started jamming a few of the old tunes with Uncle Guido (an old housemate ) on drums and got in contact with Hoyter to see if he wanted to get BumTucK back together. He came 'round to Guidos place for a jam and liked how it went so the band was officially back together. That first jam was recorded with a single microphone in the room so they could listen to the new sound with Guido on drums and it came out so cool they released it (after Glenrohan played with it a bit on a computer) as "Peace to the World.....Or Else!" They kept jamming new and old tunes together until they were offered a gig at the Derwent Entertainment Center at a festival called "Tear It Up" with a heap of other acts. They threw out a few copies of the "Peace to the World" CD at the gig and were happily surprised to have a bunch of requests through Glenrohans work and e-mails for more copies of it from brand new fans. Then Buzz magazine interviewed Hoyter and Glenrohan over their sudden reformation and CD release.
How it all started......
In mid 1996 Hoyter (on guitar) and Glenrohan (on bass) started getting smashed, jamming and writing songs together to show their differing playing styles and influences. Both had a love for blatantly crass and also tonuge in cheek artists such as Ac/Dc and The Sex Pistols. They put together a few songs from riffs they had floating about and a few newies. They started throwing around bandnames such as "Micheal Jacksons Nose" whilst looking for a drummer, until Hoyter stumbled onto a like minded guitarist named Ash. Hoyter then got stuck into teaching himself drums while they taught Ash the few tunes they'd already written and then as a three piece the jamming began. After a few months of working up a setlist a friend of the band (Pete Lickis) came to a practice session with a high quality tape recorder and made a recording of a few songs through the wall with the recorder sitting on the toilet cistern. This was dubbed the "The Shithouse Tapes" and Pete showed it around to whoever would listen. There was quite a bit of interest from Japan which fully surprised the band. They kept jamming and built up a long enough set (with originals and a few covers) to finally play their first gig with Dulcinea on Saturday the 9th of August 1997 at The Brisbane Hotel in Hobart. Not long after they sadly called it a day due to work restrictions.
